Artist

statement

In my artistic journey, I've navigated a profound sense of dysphoria, not only within my body as a transgender individual but also with my ancestry as a first-generation Afro-Latinx American. This journey has shaped my art into a powerful tool, a spiritual practice, and a means of communication; allowing me to unlock a deep well of creativity and to kindle a reconnection with my indigenous heritage. Through my art, I've fashioned a unique sigil-like language, a visual dialect that enables me to convey the intricate tapestry of my own identity and the complexities of the human experience.

The essence of my art practice is to challenge conventions deliberately, harmonizing the duality of femininity and masculinity through esoteric alternative expressions. I consciously blend these elements, defying traditional norms and offering a fresh perspective on the fluidity of identity.

My art is a celebration of counter subcultures and diverse identities: a testament to the beauty that lies in unconventionality. It is an extension of the safe haven where I have found solace and belonging, and a representation of otherness that is not only acknowledged but celebrated.
